The English Nursery

The English Nursery is a Swedish preschool with an English profile, where learning and communication take place in both Swedish and English throughout the day. Like all preschools in Sweden, we welcome children aged 1–6 and follow the Swedish preschool curriculum (Lpfö 18). We are a small nursery with a maximum of just 30 children, allowing us to create a close-knit and personal environment.

Our aim is to create a creative, fun and safe learning environment with the varm, family feel that many of our families value.

A Safe & Happy Environment

At The English Nursery, we want every child to feel safe, happy and valued. Our educators work closely with children in small groups, creating opportunities to build strong relationships, develop confidence and learn through play and exploration.

With a maximum of 30 children, we are able to maintain the warm, close-knit atmosphere that is at the heart of our nursery.

Working Together With Guardians

We believe that strong relationships with families are an important part of creating a positive preschool experience for every child. Our educators value close and open communication, with daily opportunities to share information at drop-off and pick-up.

Through our secure TYRA platform, families also receive regular updates, photos and information about everyday life and learning at the nursery, helping families stay connected and involved.

Our Food

Mealtimes are an important part of the day at The English Nursery. Our lunches are provided by Kleins Kitchen, with varied menus designed to offer nutritious and enjoyable meals for children.

We also serve breakfast, fruit and an afternoon snack, giving children regular opportunities to eat, talk and enjoy mealtimes together throughout the preschool day.

Application process

The English Nursery welcomes children aged 1–6. We are a small bilingual preschool in Södermalm with a maximum of 30 children, and we currently have a limited number of places available.

Applications are made through the City of Stockholm's preschool application system.

How do I apply?

1. Apply through the City of Stockholm

Applications are made through the City of Stockholm's Edlevo e-service. Search for The English Nursery and add us as one of your preschool choices. You can select up to five preschools in your application.

2. Join our queue

Once The English Nursery has been added to your application, your child will be registered in our queue. Places are offered according to the applicable admission and queue rules. Sibling priority applies in accordance with the City of Stockholm's regulations.

3. Come and meet us

Choosing a preschool is an important decision. Prospective families are warmly welcome to contact us to arrange a personal visit to The English Nursery, meet our educators and learn more about our bilingual approach.

Children living outside Stockholm

Families living outside the City of Stockholm may also apply to The English Nursery. As a fristående förskola, children living in another municipality may be admitted under the applicable rules. Families are welcome to contact the City of Stockholm or their home municipality for guidance regarding their individual circumstances.
