Since our establishment in 1983, Tanto International School has been committed to fostering a passion for learning and striving for excellence, all while nurturing each child's unique potential and future aspirations.
As a small, independent school, we pride ourselves on meeting the individual educational and social needs of every student within our close-knit global community. With permission to conduct all teaching and learning in English, a rarity in Sweden, we follow the English Curriculum and offer a global perspective through our Cambridge Learning Pathway all the way to Cambridge iGCSE's.
Mr. Cameron, Principal for the past 15 years, passionately believes in creating engaged, safe, and happy learning environments where children can thrive and really enjoy their education.
Our low staff turnover ensures that our dedicated and fully qualified teachers, along with experienced support staff, provide continuity and consistency. This established team creates a secure and nurturing atmosphere that encourages students to look forward to attending school.
We believe our smaller class sizes and secure environment offer advantages that larger international schools cannot, allowing us to care, collaborate, and commit to each child's success every day.
For international students, it is essential to have a place that feels like home, and we strive to provide that sense of belonging for every child, their families, and our dedicated Tanto Team.
OUR DEPARTMENTS
The English Nursery is a Swedish Nursery with an English profile which means that learning takes place in both English & Swedish. Like all preschools we admit children between 1-6 years old and follow the Swedish curriculum (Lpfö-18). We have 30 children enrolled in the Nursery.
After nursery, we welcome students starting from Year 1 and currently offer classes up to Year 7. Children may enroll at Tanto International School in August of the year they reach the age of 6. Beginning in August 2025, we will introduce a Year 8 class, followed by a Year 9 class in August 2026 and Year 10 class in August 2027. Get in line today! Our educational program is following the Cambridge iGCSE Curriculum.
T.A.S.C. is our after-school-care department which follows the compulsory school curriculum. We follow the guidance and routines that are set out for Fritids groups in Sweden. Our aim is to support development and learning both after school and during holidays whilst ensuring a positive social experience for all and support the norms and aims of Swedish society. We are fortunate to have the same dedicated core staff in T.A.S.C. as we do throughout the school day, with the program being managed internally.
OUR ETHOS
Our dedicated team fosters a supportive atmosphere that enables individuals to thrive in a safe, secure, and respectful environment. Educators build strong connections with students, allowing our staff to facilitate personal development for all children. We strive to deliver a sustainable education that emphasises Global Citizenship as well as Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education.
Collaboration and the exchange of global experiences are central to enhancing our lives. The House Team framework, along with the Student Council, fosters student engagement and teamwork throughout the school on a weekly basis. In today's world, the significance of teamwork and an intercultural perspective has reached unprecedented levels.
At Tanto, we continually acknowledge the importance of our daily interactions and the attitudes we hold towards each other. Our commitment to ourselves, our colleagues, and our institution allows us to focus on growth and progress. We encourage and expect a strong culture of respect and courtesy among all members of the Tanto community.
QUALITY EDUCATION
The Tanto International School and The English Nursery implement a rigorous and secure recruitment process to select all staff members. We are committed to hiring only the most qualified individuals who will contribute positively to our distinctive educational environment. Key attributes we prioritize during recruitment include professionalism, pride, and a strong personality. All our educators hold the necessary qualifications, and our recruitment policy is designed to uphold child protection standards.
We follow the English National Curriculum; tailored to our international community. The teachers ensure excellent academic standards in a truly stimulating class environment. Our school curriculum is delivered in a fun, engaging and creative way. Our teaching isn't just about curriculum goals- rather we seek to develop life-long learners and for this you need to really enjoy school!
Our children have grown up in a digital environment. While we prioritize the use of digital tools to enrich various aspects of learning, we are careful not to inundate our young learners with technology on a daily basis. We strategically choose the most suitable moments to incorporate digital tools, ensuring they effectively support and enhance our lessons and experiences. Additionally, our students are not permitted to use phones during school hours.
